
Tropic Moon Media next plans to produce companion books and videos about the Florida Everglades and the Florida Keys
Miami, August, 24th, 2013. Noted adventurer, educator and author Charles J. Kropke has been named President of Tropic Moon Media, an education and travel focused video production and book publishing company located in Coral Gables, Florida.
“Led by a seasoned team of publishing and video production professionals, Tropic Moon Media focuses on the art of creating books and videos that exhibit a genuine and distinctive story line,” Kropke said. “We are committed to honoring film and the printed word through high-quality original works that bring history, places and people to life.”
The multi-media company’s first project is the internationally acclaimed “SOUTH BEACH: Stories of a Renaissance” now in its second edition. Featuring vintage photography and original artwork, the 244-page coffee table-styled hardcover book chronicles the booms and the busts of this storybook travel destination, along with the pioneers, builders and civic leaders who turned Miami Beach into one of the travel industry’s most remarkable success stories. A 36-minute companion video and DVD of the same title is also available to educators, tour groups and individual travelers.
Nationally recognized author, educator and philanthropist Eleanor Goldstein is the book’s co-author and she is also executive producer of the video and DVD.
Following its first successful venture, “SOUTH BEACH: Stories of a Renaissance,” Tropic Moon Media next plans to produce companion books and videos about the Florida Everglades and the Florida Keys, showcasing the intriguing attractions and unusual qualities of these unique destinations. The Florida Everglades book, entitled “The Everglades: Stories of a Legendary Wilderness,” will cover the people and places of this World Heritage treasure.
“Our mission at Tropic Moon Media is to provide a rich, in-depth experience about these world-famous destinations. Our mission is to draw on the vision of the artist, the insight of the author, and the authenticity of the researcher, combined with fine art, photography and anecdotal history,” added Kropke.
In addition to Tropic Moon Media, Kropke is managing partner for Dragonfly Expeditions, Florida’s largest corporate tour company. He also recently launched Windjammer Sailing Adventures patterned after the storied 60 year old Windjammer Barefoot Cruises..
Kropke is a Board Member of the Baptist Health Foundation and is a recipient of the Outstanding Individual Award from Dade Heritage Trust, Miami’s largest nonprofit historic preservation organization. He is also a driving force in the ecological recreation of an extinct ecosystem, the Pond Apple forests of Lake Okeechobee; a project of the Arthur K. Marshall Foundation for the Everglades and frequently donates time, resources and expertise to advance fundraising efforts for environmental projects in Florida.
