Miami, Friday, May, 13th, 2016 (By Staff/ Negocios Magazine). Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle has been recognized by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) with their Lifetime Achievement Award 2016 for her commitment to DUI prevention, enforcement and conviction.
Founded by a mother whose daughter was killed by a drunk driver, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) is the nation’s largest nonprofit working to protect families from drunk driving, drugged driving and underage drinking. MADD also supports drunk and drugged driving victims and survivors at no charge through local MADD victim advocates and their 24-Hour Victim Helpline.
State Attorney Fernandez Rundle received a beautiful memento from the organization inscribed with the accolades “MADD appreciates your innovative and vigilant approach to DUI prevention and enforcement. Your sensitivity and passion for drunk-driving victims and concern for the health and safety of our community makes you an extraordinary leader.
MADD thanks you for your support and for your help. Together we save lives.” “I was very pleased to work with MADD recently in identifying funding for the training of law enforcement officers as Drug Recognition Experts (DRE)”, commented State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle. “DRE’s are critical in identifying impaired drivers and holding them accountable. As State Attorney, I am always trying to find innovative ways to make our community a safer place to live work, and raise our families. As a result of our collaboration, we now have twelve additional police officers that are certified as DRE’s”.
